Vanilla Valentine's Day Cupcakes

I got the cutest little cupcake liners with cute toothpicks from the dollar store so I wanted to make a Valentine's Day inspired cupcakes.
This recipe is for homemade vanilla cupcakes and homemade vanilla icing.

Ingredients (Cupcakes):

3/4 cup butter (room temperature)
3 eggs (room temperature)
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 3/4 cups sugar
3 tsp vanilla or more (more for more vanilla tasting)
1 1/4 cups milk
2 1/2 tsp baking powder

Ingredients (Icing):

1/2 cup butter, softened
4 1/2 cups confectioners sugar
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
5-6 tbs 2% milk
Red food coloring

Directions (Cupcakes):

1. Add cupcake liners to cupcake pan or grease individually.
2. Preheat oven to 350.
3. Mix salt, baking powder, and flour together.
4. Beat butter in an electric mixer or with a hand mixer on high 30 seconds.
5. Add sugar and beat until combined.
6. Add eggs and vanilla.
7. Add part of the flour mix and part of the milk. Repeat adding a little at a time.
8. Pour into cupcake liners. (3/4 way full)
9. Bake 15-18 minutes. Let cool for 15 minutes before icing.

Directions (Icing):

1. Beat butter until creamy.
2. Beat in confectioner's sugar, vanilla, and enough milk.
3. If not at desired consistency you can add a little more milk.
(I found it was plenty of milk. My icing didn't get as thick as I wanted it too probably because my mixer went out of whack when I was trying to make the icing!)
4. Add drops of red food coloring to get the color icing you desire.
(I've talked about this before but, I find it easy to fill up my icing back by placing it in a cup so it stands up. I also used this method this time because I stuck it in the freezer so my icing would  thicken up since my hand mixer went out of whack. More of a reason why I need to suck it up and go by a Kitchen Aid mixer STAT.)

So, I'm kind of sad my icing didn't turn out like I wanted it too because of my mixer. :( But, they tasted delicious and hey that's all that matters right?!
Poor icing!

2014 Grammy Fashion Faves

LOVED  the Grammy's last night!
Although, I wished the winners were a little different. I really enjoyed the show!
First off, we just need to breath this in a little...
Beyonce KILLED it last night! When does she not though?
LOVED their performance and she looked AMAZING.

Okay, on to the fashion!
Looks like there was a lot of reds or golds, or nude colors this year. Nothing too crazy!
Here are my choice favorites...

Giuliana Rancic wearing Australian designer Alex Perry. I thought this color was beautiful and the lace was so pretty!
Taylor Swift wearing this STUNNING what she called "chain mail" Gucci dress. I think this was my most fave. If you got a closer peek at it the top of the dress the detailing was to die for!
I have to comment on the fact that Miranda Lambert is looking better than ever! She is slim and looking completely studding in this Pamella Rowland dress. The color is gorgeous on her too! I love blondes in red!
Next, Chrissy Teigen aka John Legend's model wife. This dress was so beautiful on her and only she could pull off that high slit. She's wearing Johanna Johnson. I'm hearing more and more about this designer and her dresses are just beautiful. As you can see here!
So excited to see Pink back in action! Her performance was so amazing! Not only is her voice one of the best but she is so talented with her acrobatics! She's so unique! So, I was so excited to see another blonde in red. She looked absolutely stunning in this once again Johanna Johnson dress.
Ohhh Katy Perry, how I love thee! Haha. She's always so unique and I love her for it! This dress was no different! I LOVE how perfect this Valentino dress was for the Grammy's! It is really like a work of art.
Last but not least, the Queen B. Beyonce. In my favorite designer EVER Michael Costello. LOVE this dress and the things he can do with his dresses are just insane! Only thing I don't love is her hair...and to cut her some slack she did this wet look for the opening but...hey, she's Beyonce. Do what you do!

What was your favorite part of the Grammy's? Comment below!

Sunday Social

Here's this weeks Sunday Social!
Don't forget to link up!

1. How old were you when you started wearing makeup?
I wasn't allowed to wear make until I was probably in seventh grade. But, I did sneak it WAY before then! Make up was really easy to get in my house because my mom had so much of it. She sold Mary Kay for a while. Lol. So, I would just grab a mascara and I would put it on after my mom left for work in the morning or on the bus and then take it off before she got home. I think I started doing that in either fifth or sixth grade. SNEAKY!

2. What are your top 3 favorite beauty products?
This is so hard because I love so many of them!
1. I would have to go with the Urban Decay Naked Palettes. I have 1, 2, and 3.
I literally have about 10 other eye shadow palettes but I always resort back to these.
Great investment and I suggest everyone should have at least one because they are perfect for an easy every day time look and can translate into a really nice smokey eye for a night time look.
2. I love love the Revlon Lip Butters. I think I have them in every single color. They are fantastic. It gives you great color with an almost chapstick feel. Now that these have been a hit, just about every company has lip butters now and I am a FAN! :)
3. It's so hard to narrow this down...I think my third would have to be the Loreal Telescopic Mascara. I have eyelashes that stick straight out and so I have to curl them like crazy and I used to have to wear a ton of mascara to make them even look right. This mascara does WONDERS. Majorly obsessed!
3. What is one makeup product you don't leave home without?
My Makeup Forever Compact Powder. I get a little oily throughout the day and so I keep this with me at all times!

4. What is your daily beauty routine?
I wake up, wash my face, moisturize and apply my make up, and then again wash my face and moisturize at the end of the day. Pretty simple.

5. What is your favorite hair/makeup product you've discovered in the last year?
I think the product I've loved most recently is the Covergirl 3 in 1 Foundation. I like a lot of coverage and this foundation comes with a primer, concealer, and foundation all in one.  It looks AWESOME on the skin and it's one of my current favorites. I'll definitely be purchasing it over and over again.

And I just have to comment on the Neutrogena Daily Deep Conditioner. Just tried it recently and I LOVE IT. I did a review on it here.

Comment below if you link up! Would love to see your answers! :)
